p2tunes - frequently asked questions

Q: How does the download process work?
A: We tried to make the process as simple as possible for you to get the Phil Pritchett albums. Follow these steps:
1. Select album or package you want, click on button "Add to Cart"
2. When you are ready to purchase, click on button "View Cart"
3. In the cart, click on button "Proceed to Checkout"
4. If you have a PayPal account, you will need to enter your email and password, if not you will need to set up an account.
5. Once you have paid, you will receive an email with a download link. In addition, if you press the "Complete Transaction" button once you have paid within PayPal, the zip file (a compressed single file that contains all of the MP3s on the specific album, see www.winzip.com) should begin to download.
6. From your download link you receive in the confirmation email (or from the button in PayPal), make sure to save the zip file to your desktop (or other location where you keep your digital music files).
7. Go to your desktop (or wherever you saved the file), right click the file and select Winzip/Extract to Here.
8. A new folder will be created on your desktop (or wherever you saved the file).
9. Open that folder, and you will see the MP3 files.

Q: How do I add this album to my iTunes?
A: Realizing that many of you are iPod users (as is Phil Pritchett), here are the steps to add your download to iTunes:
1. Once you complete the purchase process on p2tunes, you will receive an email with a link to download your album. When you click on the link, your computer will ask where you'd like to save the zip file. One easy way to do this is to save it directly to your desktop.
2. Copy the zip file to your iTunes directory, usually My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music.
3. Use Winzip (www.winzip.com) to unzip your folder in this new file location. There should now be a new folder in the iTunes music directory.
4. Open iTunes on your computer, and choose the option "Add Folder To Library" from the File menu. From the pop-up, browse to the folder that you just created in the My Documents/My Music/iTunes/iTunes music directory. Click OK.
5. Your Phil Pritchett download is now part of your iTunes library and you can copy the music to your iPod as you normally would.

Q: How long will it take to download?
A: The individual zipped files that contain all the MP3s for an individual album are approximately 45 - 90 MB in size. On the average dial-up account, you might go want to get a drink and come back in a while. On the average broadband (cable or DSL account), this zip file will download in about the time it takes you to surf to Phil's page, check out the latest news and come back. If your connection is interrupted during download, you have the opportunity to download the file again up to a total of three times.

Q: What format are the downloads in?
A: All music downloads are in MP3 format (encoded at 192 kpbs). Phans who own portable devices will notice that these offer the best size / sound ratio of MP3s and we believe MP3 format still provides the most flexibility for music lovers. We want you to own the music you buy and the Digital Rights Management (DRM) encryption that is used by major labels (iTunes and others) severely limits your options and flexibility. Our MP3 music files do not require special players, or special permissions. When you buy from p2tunes, you own the music.

Q: Is there DRM or restrictions on these MP3s?
A: No, these MP3s are free of any restrictions the major labels sometimes put on their digital music tracks. At p2tunes.com, we believe you should be able to play your music where you want and how you want.

Q: How many times can I download the songs?
A: The email you receive after purchase contains a download link from which you have 24 hours to download the albums . You can download the albums 3 times within that 24 hour period.

Q: Can I buy just one track - I only want "Maria"?
A: Currently, we only offer full albums. Many individual MP3s are still being given away at philpritchett.com, but, for $4 you get the whole album. At p2tunes, we think that is value, that is like buying 4 tracks at iTunes and then getting the rest of the album for free!

Q: What is the payment method?
A: P2tunes.com uses the PayPal checkout system. If you already have a PayPal account, enter your information and click continue. If not, fill in your details and this will automatically sign you up for a new PayPal account. PayPal allows you to use any major credit card, or transfer funds from a regular bank account. PayPal is the trusted and secure provider of merchant banking services used by Ebay and thousands of other large Internet businesses. All prices in PayPal are in U.S. dollars.

Q: After I complete the download to my computer, and I try to unzip, a window pops up that says "Compressed, zipped file is corrupted", what does this mean?
A: This error message is from WinZip and it means that your album was not completely downloaded. Please visit the download link again and download the album one more time. Many of these zip files are very large, for example, Phil Comes Alive is 75 megabytes in zipped format.

Q: Is your site secure? How will you use my personal information?
A: The site is 100% secure, using one of the leading 3rd party digital delivery services. We do not store any credit card, PayPal or banking information on our servers, and we do not share any of your personal information with any 3rd party.

Q: Why a digital music store?
A: Most global retailers are removing physical CDs from their stores, and many familiar music retailers are no longer trading. Most retailers selling physical CDs refuse to carry an artist's complete catalog, opting instead to carry an artist's most recent offering or the artist's greatest hits package. This site allows us to offer you the full Phil Pritchett catalog in one place. Furthermore, studies have shown that more than 70% of all CD consumers immediately load their music into computer for playback and loading onto a MP3 player.

Q: Can I still get physical CDs?
A: Physical CDs will be sold at select retailers nationally and you can always get them at a Phil Pritchett show near you. In addition, the online store at www.philpritchett.com offers you the ability to purchase physical CDs, shirts and other merchandise.
